ASA Foundation launches US Embassy supported “Empowering Youth through Sports” development program for NGO school teachers at Life International School in Sihanoukville, Cambodia!

Supported by long-term project partner, the U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh, ASA Foundation is delighted to have launched a ground-breaking “Empowering Youth through Sports” program for NGO school teachers which was hosted by the Life International School (LIS) in Sihanoukville, Cambodia on 5-6 October, 2019.

The Sports-based Health, Hygiene, Life Skills, Gender Equality & Rules-based Approach education Training of Trainer (ToT) Master Training program worked with 20 male and female high school teachers from NGO schools across Sihanoukville, Cambodia. With Coca Cola kindly supporting all water and isotonic drinks, the ToT programming activities empowered the 20 male and female teachers to deliver Health, Hygiene, Life Skills, Gender Equality & Rules-based Approach education through specialized sports development activities to their respective male and female high school students on a long-term sustainable basis. And the Youth Step Down Training (YSDT) activities in high schools, which will be closely monitored and evaluated by ASA on a weekly basis, are estimated to reach out to over 1,600 male and female students!

An Opening Ceremony with the U.S. Ambassador to Cambodia, W. Patrick Murphy, is scheduled for early 2020 so watch this space!

Many thanks to the U.S. Embassy Phnom Penh together with LIS and the NGO schools for all their help and support for making this inspiring program possible for youth and young adult teachers of Sihanoukville!
