ASA & Coca Cola Amatil Indonesia close the Coke Kicks 2018 in Sorong, West Papua with over 1,000 spectators joining!

Wow! ASA knows all about West Papua since we have previously worked on Sports-based Life Skills & Health education across Sorong, thus, we are fully aware of the local peoples’ shear passion for our programming activities. However, we were not expecting such a massive turn out for the closing of the Coca Cola Amatil Indonesia (CCAI) supported, “Coke Kicks 2018” Grass Roots Community Capacity Building & Life Skills through Professional Soccer Development program that was staged at Dom Island Field in Sorong on November 18th, 2018.

Apart from a much larger group of 40 trainers together with 250 male and female youth joining the programming activities, with teams from Manokwari flying over to participate in the event, Day 2’s competition hosted 1,155 spectators who watched the matches with large groups of female players competing which, again, promotes gender equality and women empowerment for the activities. A special mention goes to talented female player Murni who was awarded the best player trophy and continues to be monitored by ASA! Well done Murni!

A massive thank you to long-term strategic project partner Coca Cola Amatil Indonesia (CCAI) for making this fantastic nationwide project possible and congratulations to everyone in Sorong!
